OUR PROJECTS -
1. COVER CROPS
We have been using cover crops within the rotation for many years now and are seeing good benefits for some of the heavier soil types.
A cover crop is a crop of any vegitation established in the autum after a growing crop with the intent to incorporate all of the canopy/root system before planting the next crop.
By doing this we keep all the nutrients left from the previous crop in the field and limit any nutrients or soil reaching water courses. This also boosts soil fertility for the next crop. Keeping our environmental impact to a minimum.
The cover crops we use are -
Phacilia for incorporation
Fodder Radish for incorporation
Fodder Turnip for sheep grazing
